How to choose a good timeshare property

So you want to buy a timeshare property?  How do you go about it?  What is the best strategy to find the perfect piece of timeshare property for you and your family?  Before you take the plunge and sign on the dotted line, here are some things that you should take into consideration when choosing a timeshare property.

First of all, consider the location.  Is there a specific place that you would want to spend your vacation year after year after year?  If not, then it would be best if you purchase a timeshare in the best locations in the world.  This is so that you would have trading power each year.  This means that you can easily swap your timeshare for other destinations in the world.

Once you’ve narrowed down your location choices, it is time for you take a closer look into the different resorts and hotels offering timeshare programs within those areas.  This is where you really have to do your homework.  Research on the various hotels and resorts.  If you can get in touch with the managers or owners, then do so and have a chat with them.  If possible, get hold of timeshare owners in those resorts and ask them questions.  You can also make use of the Internet and visit various timeshare forums or chat pages to give you a closer look into how the timeshares work in different resorts.

You can make use of a timeshare company to help you with your purchase.  Timeshare companies exist to facilitate your purchase.  They can give you a host of information at a moment’s notice.  You have to be wary when doing so, however, as naturally, they may have their own reasons for pushing a certain timeshare on you.  Compare their recommendations to your research. Always do counterchecks to see if the data presented to you is accurate.

Once you have decided on the location and resort, then you can consider the type of timeshare that you want to purchase.  Do you want a deeded timeshare or do you want a right to use timeshare?  Do you want a points system wherein you can easily exchange points to spend in different locations each year?

Taking these things into consideration and taking the time to make your decision is important.  Timeshares are a luxury, you cannot afford to make uninformed decisions.  If possible, make a physical inspection of the place before actually buying your timeshare.
