How do I trade in my allotted timeshare time for time at different location?
Timeshare trading is perhaps one of the main reasons a lot of people are convinced about the value of timeshares. The idea of having one’s vacation in the sunny beaches of the Caribbean one year and then going on a ski trip in the Alps the next is just too difficult to resist. In fact, most every person has probably dreamed about doing so. With timeshares, this dream is made into reality. Yet how exactly do you turn a dream into a real experience?
Unless you have millions in spare cash, you would have to do like the rest of us common people and purchase a timeshare in a resort or hotel. However, if you have specific locations in mind, you would have to be careful about choosing the company that you would buy your timeshares from. First, make sure that the hotel or resort is part of a group that caters to the destinations that you have in mind. That would make it easier for you to trade your timeshares with their sister companies. Though timeshare trading is possible between different companies, it is always easier when the trading occurs inside company groups.
The next thing that you have to take note of is the flex or points system. First make sure that the hotel or resort offers this system. This is the method by which you can swap timeshares with other members of their group anywhere in the world – as long as they existing facilities there. You would have to take it up with the management, from the start, exactly how you can swap your timeshares at a later date. This type of timeshare trading will work best for you if you are aiming for flexibility in terms of location and time.
There are other ways by which you can trade timeshares if your property is not owned by a big hotel or resort group. You can either look for a swapping partner yourself or engage the services of a timeshare trading company. The former option always works but might take up too much time and resources for you. The latter option will make it easier for you as the trading company would do all the work. Be prepared, however, to pay a fee for their services. Trading your timeshare boils down to one thing – is your property in demand? If so, then you wouldn’t have too much trouble facilitating a swap.
